I listened to a well prepared oratorical about how XP is NOT supported, and how tech support does not recomend using RF2 with XP. All I wanted to do was register my program so I could update the program to run well- or better - under the XP platform. I spent 10 minutes or so on the phone with someone else. I believe the problem here is that I did not have the fortunate experience of speaking with you during my call. They'll hear about it, and there friends will too. "Its only 30 people, no big deal." Whats the cutoff for big deal mr.tech support? 100 people - 200 people. Thats ok - this is so typical of companies today. In that case, he didnt feel it was big enough to post it on their website. But according to tech support - it was "an isolated occurence" of about 30 CD's. This after I couldnt even install the darn thing cuz someone mislabeled the CD's with the wrong Serial number. He did not believe this was something that they should inform cunsumers about pre-purchase. This person I spoke with was - IMHO - a bit shortsited. Am I supposed to assume that since I have 512MB I may have a problem as well? We - as the end-user - are supposed to read between the lines that XP is NOT supported. He also explained that although the system requirement are listed as MINIMUM: WINDOWS 2000, ME, 98, and 95 that this is consistent with industry standard. So all you other people with XP that have problems - don't worry - it was only $200. Projected Date for that update is NOT PROJECTED. He also told me that XP WAS NOT SUPPORTED and that they advised XP users TO WAIT for them to develop an update. The gentleman on the other end of the line told me that the registration server was down, try later. I tried to register online before I even tried the program - so that I could get the latest update first. But IT DOESN'T CRASH EVERY FEW DAYS like Wintrash 98 Some hardware aren't yet fully supported in XP, some programs aren't XP compatible ( like EZ CD Creator 4, altough it works fine for me ), and it is a little bit slower than 9x or 2000. I have a 40gb hard drive so what gives ?īut. I keep having the same problem when I try to install G2, it stops loading at about 300mb and says not enough drive space. but it restored fine ).Ī few nice feeechurs of XP: Ability to roll back drivers ( usefull if your display card gives you problems with G2 -) ), system restore etc. That OS is MUCH more stable ( I only partly crashed it once while trying to install DX8.1 in Win98 compatibility mode. I think XP is worth the upgrade from Win98, if you have the computer to handle it ( I know you have! ). G2 works flawlessly on my XP machine ( But I said that earler ).
